Welcome to the website of the Malawi-Birmingham Partnership: a mission link between the four Anglican dioceses in Malawi and the Diocese of Birmingham.

Malawi Partnership Visits
The 2nd half of 2011 saw three important visits.

Teacher Skills Share.  A group of 12 teachers led once again by Jim and Liz Carr visited Malawi from 13-27 August and  trained teachers in Nkhotakota and Chilema.

Mission Encounter to Birmingham. A party of 12 Malawian church members visited the UK 16-26 September at its own expense, spending 8 days in Birmingham and 2 in London. Three came from each of the four Dioceses and the group was led by Canon Christopher Mwawa of ACM.  The group included professional and business leaders, who had individual visit programmes to workplaces in Birmingham, as well as sightseeing. The group stayed in the homes of Christians in the city and took part in worship in local churches and St Philip's Cathedral.

Malawi October 2011. The 150th anniversary of the Anglican mission in Malawi was marked by a major celebration at Magomero on 8 October.  A group of 8 from Birmingham including the Rt Rev Andrew Watson, Bishop of Aston, and his wife, and led by Rev Richard Tucker,  visited for 2 weeks.

Future Visits. No group visits to Malawi are planned for 2012 owing to the current difficult conditions in the country.
